The Rio Rancho Creative Crossroads (RRCC) will host an event and fundraiser on Dec. 10 to celebrate the holiday season. The goal is to raise money to assist the community. The event is put on by one of the programs produced by RRCC called the Rio Rancho Players Community Theatre (RRPCT).
In advance of the event, RRPCT is collecting Christmas trees. “Our group is collecting 31 Christmas trees and donating them to local families that are in need,” Bobbi Huber, marketing chairperson for the theater, told KRQE.
The theatre is partnering with Haven House and the Five Sandoval Indian Pueblos, Inc. to find people that need assistance. The Christmas trees collected will be decorated and displayed at the fundraising event, which features food vendors, Santa Claus and the families chosen to take home the trees.
The RRPCT is Rio Rancho’s only all-ages community theater group. It was founded in 2013 to bring high-quality, reasonably priced culture and the arts to Rio Rancho.
According to its website, “We focus on finding ways to introduce our members and our community to bigger, bolder, different, extraordinary artistic experiences you would never expect to get in Rio Rancho."
RRCC holds other fundraisers as well that are ongoing like the Squeaky Shoe Project. For every book or e-book sold, they will donate all profits to The Squeaky Shoe Project for the purchase and distribution of new shoes for children in need in Rio Rancho and the surrounding areas.
