Rio Rancho Youth Chorus Look for New Members

Posted

Rio Rancho NM - Rio Rancho Youth Chorus and Children’s Chorus of Rio Rancho are accepting new members for our upcoming season which kicks off Saturday August 26. Both choruses are looking for male and female singers and will accept new members until September 9.

There are several opportunities for rehearsal for kids and informational meetings for the guardians/parents. Children’s Chorus (for 2nd-5th grades) will be 1230-1:30 p.m. Youth Chorus (for 6th-12th grades) will be 2-4 p.m. at the group’s new rehearsal space, Star Heights Recreation Center, 800 Polaris Blvd. in Rio Rancho. Choir leaders said if singers can’t make it August 26, just stop by any rehearsal September 2 or 9. Singers of all experience levels, abilities, genders, identities, backgrounds, cultures, and orientations will be accepted. No auditions are required.

Rio Rancho Youth Chorus and Children’s Chorus of Rio Rancho are community chorale ensembles for those living in the Rio Rancho area. “Music is for everyone," said the organization's president, Neal Shotwell. “The choruses are a safe, welcoming place to experience and participate without judgment or the stress of solo performance.”

Each season ends with two concerts the first weekend in December and the choruses regularly perform at other events in Rio Rancho and around NM. The Youth Chorus has been invited to perform with Opera Southwest later this year.

The enrollment fee is $125 per season. Family discounts and an early bird discount are available through by August 14. Rehearsals are every Saturday from August 26 through November 25. Public, end of season concerts will be December 2 and 3. For more information on how to register either chorus visit www.rr-yc.org or call/text (505)977-4160.

The choruses are programs of Rio Rancho Creative Crossroads, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. RRCC offers programs for ages 3 to 100+. In addition to the choruses, we are Rio Rancho Community Theatre (for all ages), Art on the Mesa, and the Squeaky Shoe Project.
