Voters across Sandoval County have spoken and chosen what they want their local governments to look like for the next few years.
More than two dozen candidates were selected in Tuesday’s election, and they will fill offices everyone knows about as well as some whose roles are not well understood by many.
These are all unofficial results as of 10 p.m. Tuesday.
Rio Rancho Public Schools will see three new members of its Board of Education. The District 3 seat goes to Michael Berry, who ran unopposed. Rebecca Murray led in District 5 with 741 votes, outpacing Donna Tillman (484) and Quinton Middleton (365). No votes had been recorded in District 1, contested by write-in candidates Rudy Galindo and Seth Muller.
Bernalillo Public Schools Board Member John Gurule appears headed for another term. Early results show him leading Olivia Calabaza 142 votes to 88; Sheldon Crespin was running third with 67 votes.
Ronald Abramshe and Edward Paulsgrove were elected directors of the South Sandoval County Arroyo Flood Control Authority. They were the only candidates in a race for two open seats. The agency oversees stormwater projects and flood mitigation planning for southern Sandoval County and parts of Rio Rancho and Bernalillo.
James McCue has perhaps won another term as a trustee for the Village of Jemez Springs, as he had received 31 of 87 votes cast by electors filling two seats. Victoria Martinez was running second with 28 votes. Monique Alton, Cynthia Shelton and Melina Sanchez also campaigned for the seats.
In the Village of San Ysidro, Mayor Steve Lucero ran unopposed, and Julian Andrew Trujillo and Jason Keith were the only candidates for the two open trustee seats.
