Many of the metro area’s top bars and restaurants squared off at The BLOCK Saturday, and Rio Grande Social says it came out on top.

The Margarita Festival ran noon to 6 p.m., with entry tickets covering ten 3.5-oz samples per person — the largest pours allowed by law — from sweet to spicy to whatever competitors dreamed up. DJ Shatta kept the music going while food trucks and a beer garden filled out the grounds.

Rio Grande Social announced its win on social media Saturday night, saying its team served more than 2,000 people over six hours and took first place. “Congratulations to my team at Rio Grande Social!!” the post read.

The competition put judging in attendees’ hands, with each ticket doubling as a vote across the lineup of local entries. Rio Grande Social earned $1,000 and bragging rights, and a share of all the proceeds will benefit children’s charities.
