Jemez Valley residents can grab a free chair massage and a sneak peek at expanded rural health care Saturday when Jemez Valley Community Wellness celebrates five years with a health fair at The Rose Center.

The free open house runs 1-4 p.m. Oct. 10 at 8372 Highway 4, across from Jemez Valley High School. The Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce will cut the ribbon, and state Rep. Christine Chandler plans to attend, according to a JVCW press release.

Founder and Executive Director Juliette Sweet said she’s “humbled by the support JVCW has been given over the past five years.”

Attendees can try mini-sessions, including chair massage, a frequency room and Aztec healing, and catch presentations on maternal health, movement, astrology and palliative care. Exhibitors and vendors will share health resources and sell goods.

Sweet founded the nonprofit in 2021. It offers exercise and mindfulness classes, massage, behavioral health counseling and naturopathic primary care, plus a limited number of treatment subsidies for low-income households. Event proceeds support those programs. Organizers also plan to unveil a fundraising push for a community garden, accessible walking paths, outdoor therapy spaces and lodging for visiting practitioners.
